We’re really excited to have our new campus in Wiri open. There’s a ton to see and do in the area – shops, parks, and tourist spots. Here are our picks, in no particular order.
Visit the markets
South Auckland has a bunch of really great markets with Otara Markets being the most famous. Cheap eats, amazing treasures, cool people. There’s also the Papatoetoe Night Market every Friday at Hunter’s Plaza – well worth a visit.
Walk in the botanics
The Auckland Botanic Garden in Manurewa have more than 10,000 plants from around the world and is a fantastic place to relax. They often have exhibitions, guided walks, and school holiday activities for the kids, so check out the website for the latest.
White Water Rafting
You can kayak to your heart’s content at the brand new Vector Wero Whitewater Park near campus, and there’s even a waterfall to go over if you’re feeling brave.
Paintball at the Airport
Ever wanted to shoot paint at your family? Lock and Load Adventures are nearby and a whole lot of fun. They’ve even got an archery range so if you ever wanted to give that a go…
Mangere Arts Center
If art is more your style, check out the Mangere Arts Center. They showcase local artists and it is well worth a visit, especially if you’re new to the area. They’ve got a community cafe, so grab yourself a coffee and know that you’re helping the locals.
Whether you’re nipping in to grab something in particular, or just killing time with a bit of window shopping, Manukau’s Westfield mall is a pretty good place to stop in.
No to-do activities list would be complete without Rainbow’s End. Maybe you went as a kid, maybe you’ve never been, but if you like to be dropped from the sky at zero-g, scream your lungs out, or ride go karts with your mate, this is worth a visit.
South Auckland’s got a ton of attractions – so get out and explore!
