Want to get the most out of your course and ace those tests? Here’s five easy ways you can improve your marks.

Ask the tutor to clarify
We know it can be hard for some people to speak up on the course – no one wants to ask a “dumb” question, but the truth is that if you’re wondering about something, the chances are someone else is, too. Just ask! Your tutors want to see you succeed.

Don’t rush
Are you usually the first one out the door once the lesson’s done? Hold up, take a little extra time, and make sure you’ve got the idea or technique into your brain before you leave for the day and get distracted by other things. It’s also important to focus on what you’re doing right now, rather than thinking about what you’re going to do once you get home.

Eat breakfast
We’ve all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day – and that’s true! Brekkie can give you better endurance, help you concentrate, and can even improve your hand-eye coordination. At our Manukau campus we provide a light breakfast, so make sure you eat something before getting stuck in for the day.

Put your phone away
It can be really hard to step away from your phone, but all the notifications and texts can be distracting while you’re trying to learn. If you’re using a computer to study, close the Facebook tab. Well, like Aspire2 Trades on Facebook, then close the tab.

Write the key points down
There are heaps of studies that show writing things down has a strong impact on memory and learning. If you’re reading notes, don’t just highlight them, but write them out in a notebook.

We want to see you do really well on your course, so if there is anything we can do to help you reach your goals, let us know. Have a chat with your tutor and ask for practical tips for how you can improve. We’re here to help!
